Barcelona News Roundup: Blaugrana in contact with Florian Wirtz, no progress on Sergino Dest's future
Wirtz could be targeted next summer
Barcelona made contact with Florian Wirtz's camp a few weeks ago to discuss a possible move next summer, according to reports. The Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder is one of the most highly-rated young players in Europe and has been linked with moves to several top clubs, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, any deal for Wirtz would be very difficult to complete, due to his high transfer fee and the competition from other clubs. Wirtz is currently valued at around €100 million and Leverkusen are reluctant to sell him.
Dest's future remains uncertain
Sergino Dest's future remains uncertain, with no progress made on a move away from Barcelona. The USMNT international was expected to leave Camp Nou this summer, but a move has yet to materialize.
One of Dest's agents told BarcaTimes that there is still no progress with any club and that the player will return to Barcelona and then meet with the management to discuss his future.
Barcelona end season with record income
Barcelona have ended the 2022/23 season with record income from the different commercial sectors. The club generated €154.8 million from stadium and museum facilities and €97.6 million from sponsorship and merchandising.
This represents a significant increase from the previous season, when Barcelona generated €125.9 million from commercial sectors. The club's financial situation has improved in recent months, thanks to the sale of assets and the signing of new sponsorship deals.
