Yasuke's imposing stature and martial prowess drew the attention of Oda Nobunaga, one of the most powerful feudal lords in Japan at the time. Nobunaga was intrigued by Yasuke and took him into his service.

Yasuke's skills as a warrior proved invaluable to Nobunaga, who employed him as a personal bodyguard and entrusted him with important tasks. Yasuke fought alongside Nobunaga at the Battle of Mikatagahara in 1573, earning the respect of his fellow samurai.
